Help students explore the science of human fertility and infertility with this two-resource bundle designed for middle school and high school science, biology, human biology, reproductive health, and STEM lessons. The first resource is an approximately 15-paragraph science reading passage that introduces students to the evidence, trends, possible contributing factors, and scientific questions surrounding male and female infertility, followed by six varied comprehension and critical-thinking questions, including three regular questions, a fill-in-the-gaps activity, a true or false question, and a question designed to encourage deeper scientific thinking.
The second resource is a structured human fertility research project template that guides students through a one-paragraph summary, mathematics connection, engineering or technology connection, five-term scientific glossary, three challenging inquiry questions, and a creative response section. Six additional inquiry questions are included in two differentiated sets, with three more accessible questions for younger students and three more challenging questions for older students, allowing teachers to switch between levels according to student ability and classroom needs.
A 20-point rubric supports self-assessment, peer assessment, or teacher assessment, while additional teacher guidance makes the project straightforward to introduce and implement. The bundle also includes a new 10-page interactive HTML resource containing clear primer material on human fertility and infertility, which can be used independently or alongside the other resources, with JSON export and import functionality allowing students to save their answers locally and return to their work later.
Together, these resources provide a ready-to-use combination of science reading comprehension, reproductive biology, data interpretation, research skills, critical thinking, STEM connections, and independent inquiry, making them a practical addition to a middle school or high school science curriculum exploring human reproduction, male infertility, female infertility, and the scientific evidence surrounding changing fertility patterns.
